Cow Creek Today

Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians is still around today. Here are some of the things the tribe is known for today....

Cow Creek Bingo Hall/Cow Creek Casino Resort- It first opened in 1992, and is still going strong. After the first few year that the bingo hall was open, it expanded from its original 9,600-square-foot. It changed from just the Cow Creek Casino Resort, to the Seven Feathers Hotel and Casino Resort. Currently the casino has a convention center, food outlets, sports bar, cabaret-show lounge, hotel with an Olympic-size pool, a spa and a gift gallery. The casino is the biggest revenue for the Cow Creek Tribe, as well as the tribe's most public activity.

Tribal Community-
The focus of Cow Creek Tribe is community and family. They have continued over the past 150 years to uphold many cultural practices, such as an annual powwow that occurs at South Umpqua Falls. Cow Creek has also upheld strong ties with southern Oregon and over the years has developed government-to-government relationships with all the different levels in government.

Still Today Main Focus...- Sue Shaffer, the tribal chairperson says about the tribal membership of everyone, "The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians focuses on supporting families and children through job creation, and furthering economic diversification for the tribe and the communities of southern Oregon. Our tribal members have not deviated from
their mission of building strong people capable of facing the coming tomorrows." The importance that this tribe shows, is wheather it was the first day that the tribe was open, or today...the mission and the focus of the tribe has stayed the same
